This is my design for an Absorber/Diffuser acoustic panel. I attached the chart with dimensions and design. You are welcome to use it freely.
I will appreciate if you will give a credit and a link to my YouTube channel.

Hey, do you know what frequency this design diffuses vs absorbs? Is this based on the binary amplitude diffuser designs? Thanks!
Hi, it absorbs more low frequency, below 300Hz – but less high frequency – above 600Hz.
Hi,
looks really great!
How did you calculate the dimensions of the holes etc.?
I would like to build a bigger one 200x110cm, can I just multiply everything by approx. factor 1.7?
Cheers
Hi there thanks for your comment.
In my opinion yes you can multiply it and it will do the work.
My knowledge comes ufrom my own research. I built before this one other panels till I found the correct dimensions. It worked so well that I made 4 of them.👍👍
great job!. any recommendations on the type of fabric used inside the frame ? or what did you use ?
Hi I used German made Rockwool very good materials
Hi Arik,
I’m a flamenco guitarist and I’m building my home recording/office in my apparent in Madrid. The panels I will use is from recycling a closet. I’m using plywood, but it is thinner (probably way thinner) and the dimension are 158.5cm by 55cm. I should assume that since the piece of wood is simply to different to what you use, this will not work, right? in my case, what should I do? or what formula or rule should I follow in order to calculate the measurements for the wood I have available?
also, what is the distance in between each slot?
I see you say it will absorb lower frequency than 300Hz but will let pass over 600Hz. I think this could work nice for my type of instruments specially. I will give me a punchier and crispier sound. but, where should I place them once I have them? hehehe
Hi Alejandro, nice to hear from you:) first of all, its great that you are recycling, not only from the ecological aspect but also the oldest the materials are the affect they produce are better… my opinion:) all almost every wood work I do I use recycling stuff.
I don’t know if you intend to hang them on the wall or ceiling, but if ceiling, few thing you to take for consideration:
1. If the board is too thin it will have a belly. Depends on what weight of rock wool you put.
2. Maybe you can glue 2 boards together and then do the cuts.
3. The dimensions are ok but because they are thin you should consider shortening them
4. My dimensions can suits yours. if your board will end to be longer add few lines same as my measurements sketch above. Around the board try leave at least 6cm for frame.
Good luck and share your work:) send my something to listen as guitarist!
Arik
great! I’ll have this in mind. probably they will go in the walls, but now that you mention to put them in the ceiling, I might experiment with that too. in that case….maybe I can glue one or two (maybe even three) thin”braces” to prevent a bit the “belly”
the last thing is: what is the distance you use in between each slot you made? just so I have that distance in mind as well.
thank you again. I will send you something for you to check out my work with the guitar.
Hi:) another idea- is to put a wood strip in the middle hidden inside where you’ll put the rockwool, it will use as a spine and can prevent belly too.
Distance is 4cm.
GOOD LUCK

hope you are subscribe:)
Are all the slots the same height and the spacing between equal ? The diagram shows they are all 2.5cm tall, the spacing isn’t given. But in the photos not all the slots look the same height.
Hi there:) the thickness of each slot is 2.5 cm
The space between each slot is 3 cm
In some places maybe some gaps because it is all hand routing without table router.
Thank you so kindly.
🙏good luck with your project
Thanks for sharing!
🙂 thanks
thanks for sharing mate! I saw your short video at first!
Hi Gabriel:) yes I commnted on your question there.. so you can see the design here on my blog.
Comment *Pozdrav,Jel se moze koristiti u muzickom studiju kao difuzer
Yes of course 👍
Are you concerned with safety when using rockwool?
As far as I know, yes
